Fish Tales Restaurant was established in the year 2001 after an extensive renovation and reinvention of the former Hickory Hill Resort & Grocery. The location was previously owned by the McAnaugh family, and later became Alice’s Restaurant at Hickory Hill owned and operated by Alice Elser. The property has been a mainstay in the Town of West Point. Hickory Hill included cottage rentals, a store and tavern and had long been a gathering spot for fishing, food and drinks. Many ‘fish tales’ were told over a few cocktails. In 2001 the location began transforming, condos replaced the cabins and the restaurant space was renovated and updated. Randy and Shelly Kaltenberg developed, managed and owned the newly named Fish Tales Restaurant. With a new name and new vision for a great seafood restaurant, they created a friendly place to gather in a relaxing supper club atmosphere.
